Borrowed a book on Frederick Leighton and his works, and now absolutely love his stuff, vibrant colours, awesome painting skills. Tried to do a black and white value study of one of his pieces, trying to use larger strokes to pull of the shiny drapery, it was a good study i think. I still get proportions horribly wrong.

My LMS piece for 'Underneath it all'. I always thought those Venitian Balls were kinda creepy, with ther masksand all. So I had this idea that they were all aliens,or a family of aliens that gather together and dance. So this picture is supposed to be a moment when they take off their masks, revealing their true form. I think I lost the message halfway, and its hard for anyone to make sense of it, haha. I really enjoyed working on this piece though.

Finally! New Stuff!

Onions! Yay! As part of my whole value-learning process, I have devoted my time to learning how to establish values in black and white, using onions. Yep. Painting the simplest things in black and white I feel is the easiest way of learning where things should be. I still feel that my contrast et sharpness isnt quite there, hmmm, something to work on. Here in London, the winter is kicking my ass. The rain, the wind, all of winters sons and daughters have owned me. The nice thing is that winter keeps me at home, where I can just draw more!

I name this piece 'Palpitations' because of a weird experience I had, where I woke up at 4 a.m feeling my heartbeat going real fast, then real slow, for about half an hour. I then woke up my dad, and after going to the clinic, found that its just palpitations caused by lack of sleep/caffeine. The funny thing was that while I experienced it, I kept feeling this sensation where i was about to float/faint, that was really horrifying. So this piece is a tribute to that experience, one of those things in life that happens to make you really cherish how fragile it is. Ciao!

Birthday Post!

I've been working on value, and contrast, and all that stuff. The two at the top are from a couple o pics I took at Hyde Park, while the bottom one, as you can probably tell, is from my noggin. I'm trying to bridge that vast difference between referenced quality and unreferenced. Oh yeah, I went to Bosnia Herzegovina and Dubrovnik, Croatia for 5 days, 2 weeks ago (random?). Took dozens of pictures of dozens of awesome scenery that made me go 'oooh..woww......', and so on. So hopefully I will try to do studies of those in the near future, and if they end up ok, they will end up in here, and if they dont, they'll still end up here.

My piece for the Teen Challenge on ca.org. Just wanted to create an image where two strangers approach each other, ad I wanted the girl to seem brave for approaching the swamp monster. tried to use really faded colours, and to make it verylight, to give it a serene and uplifting mood. Still not completely happ with it though, I will need to clarify the light source, and add an object to the left of the pic to balance the focal points.

Started practicing drawing the human form. Its......hard. But drawing hands are fun, especially with a biro. With the biro, you cant erase anything, so if it looks wonky, then you just have to roll with it. :p I got a letter from Camberwell Art College, I'm invited for interviw on the 12th of April, at.......9.30 am!!!!!! Oh my. I'll need to wake up at...at.....4 o'clock. or something. bLEH........whatever.

This was an old torso redesign I did back in the day. I lookied up a torso pic on corbis, which somehow did not end up as it should have........Painting or drawing what I see was never my strong point, haha!

This piece was created for the C.O.W Topic 'Unique Lovers'.

This is a piece that I did for C.O.W (Creature of the Week), and the topic was something to do with the creature being extremely fast. So I decided to create an illustration of a huge snail with loads of tiny villi-like structures, making it really fast despite being a typically slow organism. I just put in those white spirit people to make the piece more interesting. This was the first time I painted a grey underpainting before adding the colours, and I feel that it added more depth to the colour. Definitely a technique that i will continue using.
